Cathay Pacific passenger and cargo figures still lower than last year
CPCAY | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airways reported on Wednesday that both
passenger numbers and cargo and mail tonnage for Cathay Pacific and
Dragonair were down in October 2009 compared with the same month last
year.
The two airlines carried a total of 2,010,739 passengers in October,
showing a decrease of 3.9% year-on-year, but capacity was reduced by
10.1% which led to a rise of 6.8 percentage points in the load factor
to 82.3%.
The year-to-date figures show the number of passengers down 3.8% and a
capacity reduction of 4.5%.
Cathay Pacific and Dragonair carried a total of 143,290 tonnes of cargo
and mail in October 2009, down 0.8% compared with October 2008, and
capacity for the month, as measured in available cargo/mail tonne
kilometres, was 15.6% lower. Tonnage has fallen by 11.1% for the year
to date, against a capacity reduction of 14.0%.
