SOPW | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Aerospace and defence company Aerojet, a division of GenCorp (NYSE: GY | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating)
signed a joint agreement with Solar Power Inc (SPI) (OTCBB:SOPW.OB) to
add another 2.4 megawatts to the present solar system installed at
Aerojet's California site and increase it to 6 megawatts.

SPI is a vertically integrated solar energy solution provider under a
single brand.

Construction of the 3.6 megawatt solar system at Aerojet's facility in
the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) was initiated in June
of 2009. The ground-mounted solar array system uses a single-axis
tracking system that moves with the sun's course through the day to
maximise electricity production.

The six megawatt system will cover over 40 acres of the site, using 22
tracking arrays and 29,344 SPI 205 watt photovoltaic modules when
complete, the company stated and added that based on performance
characteristics, the California Energy Commission ranks SPI's module as
the top PV solar module in its class.

SMUD provides low-cost, reliable electricity to Sacramento County and
to a part of Placer County.

No financial details were discussed.
