Daiichi Sankyo to introduce Ranbaxy's generic drug in Japan
RBXLF | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Japanese pharmaceutical group Daiichi Sankyo is all set to launch some of Ranbaxy Laboratories's generic medicine in the Japanese market shortly, according to The Economic Times.
According to the news source, in 2009, approximately 30 generic drugs manufactured at Ranbaxy's facilities at Poanta Sahib in Himachal Pradesh and Dewas in Madhya Pradesh were banned by the FDA for violating good manufacturing practice.
The Economic Times cited Tsutomu Une, senior executive officer of global corporate strategy and member of board at Daiichi Sankyo, as saying: "There is a debate going on in Japan on how to reduce healthcare cost by increasing the generic share to 30%.
"Soon we will be launching Ranbaxy's generic drugs in the Japanese market. The company is working on a synergy plan with Ranbaxy under which Daiichi Sankyo's product will be introduced in emerging markets through Ranbaxy."
