Boeing prepares for flight tests of 747-8 Freighter
BA | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Aircraft maker Boeing (NYSE:BA) said on Thursday that the first Boeing
747-8 Freighter has been completed and has left the factory in Everett,
Washington.
The aircraft will now be painted and start preparations for flight
testing.
The 747-8 Freighter is 5.6 metres longer than the 747-400 Freighter,
providing 16% more revenue cargo volume compared with its predecessor.
Boeing has received 105 orders for the 747-8, of which 78 are orders
for the new freighter. When ready for service the first 747-8 Freighter
will be operated by Luxembourg-based cargo airline Cargolux.
