Prime View International to Enlarge Yangzhou E-book Business
CMIQF | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Taiwan display maker Prime View International Co., Ltd. (PVI, TPO: 8069) is set to construct more workshops for its highlighted e-book reader module production base in Yangzhou City, east China, according to the chairman Scott Liu.
The world's e-book reader market is expected to have a triple-digit annual growth in the future, said Mr. Liu, adding that his company's e-paper production capacity will run out in 2010. Thus, PVI acquired US-based E Ink Corp. earlier this year and plans to utilize a fifth-generation production line of Chi Mei Optoelectronics Corp. (TPE: 3009) in 2010.
With an over 90% share of the global e-paper market, PVI provides such products to Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. (TPE: 2317), which produces about 80% of the world's e-book readers as an OEM.
In addition, a Yangzhou governor named Wang Yanwen said that the city would also start mass procurement of e-book readers when the prices became affordable to ordinary consumers.
