Markel unveils new insurance policy for protecting campaign financial assets
MKL | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Markel Risk Solutions, a subsidiary of Markel Corporation, has introduced CampaignPro, a multi-line, admitted insurance product intended to address risks faced by the US Senate, US House, gubernatorial, and other state and local political campaigns, and campaign committees.
Campaigns have no exemptions from liability under any statutory law. Markel Risk Solutions said that CampaignPro addresses the vast majority of liability exposures in a coordinated approach that reduces gaps, simplifies coverage, and keeps costs down.
Barrett Hubbard, managing director for Markel Risk Solutions, said: "Campaigns are unique entities with unique liabilities. The financial assets should be protected for the purposes of electing the candidate. From auto liability to renting space and special events - campaigns need to consider how to best protect assets for the purpose at hand.
"The year 2010 is a very active election cycle with all 435 US House of Representatives and 36 US Senate seats being contested. In addition, 39 states will elect governors."
