Northrop Grumman wins $18m US Air Force contract

NOC | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Defense contractor Northrop Grumman has won a $17.6m contract from the US Air Force Combat Information Transport System (CITS) Program Management Office to integrate Phase II of the Host Based Security System (HBSS) under the Network Centric Solutions contract.

Under the contract, the company will deploy the HBSS 3.0 security solution upgrade to the Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet) at 263 active duty Air Force bases and Air National Guard sites around the world. It will plan, design, integrate, test, configure, train, document, and deploy HBSS 3.0 to better protect data over the SIPRNet.

Northrop Grumman teammates on the contract include McAfee and their reseller CDWG of Chicago, and Innove, LLC of San Antonio.

Jill Kale, vice president of the Defense Enterprise Solutions at Northrop Grumman Information Systems sector, said: "Our goal is to provide a 'fight-through' capability for the warfighter so network attacks cannot bring down their systems. In partnership with the CITS program management office and our long-time HBSS partner McAfee, I am proud of the overall team's success during the execution of Phase I. The program was delivered on-time and under-budget and we look forward to building on this success during the execution of Phase II."

Earlier this week, Northrop Grumman won a three-year contract from industrial and environmental services provider PSC to provide commercial IT support services. It also won a five-year $46m contract from the US Department of Homeland Security to provide technical services to enhance the communication of information across the Immigration and Customs Enforcement enterprise.
