Motorola to acquire BitBand
MOT | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Broadband and wireless communications company Motorola Inc (NYSE:MOT)
announced on Monday it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire
content management and delivery systems provider BitBand.
The financial terms of the acquisition were not revealed.
According to the company, Israeli-based BitBand has more than 60
commercial IPTV deployments worldwide. The acquisition is expected to
complement Motorola's existing on-demand product line, which includes
the Adaptive Media Management framework for content management and
streaming servers for centralised and edge-based on demand networks.
BitBand brings products tailored for IP video and expertise in IPTV
solutions, as well as solutions for Content Delivery Networks (CDN) and
Over-the-Top video services. With the addition of its products,
Motorola can offer comprehensive on demand solutions for its customers,
addressing a range of deployment scales, access networks, video formats
and business models.
BitBand will be integrated into Motorola's Home & Networks Mobility
business.
The acquisition is expected to close in Q4 2009, subject to customary
closing conditions.
