The signing of the codeshare agreement by the chief executive officers of both airlines comes on the heels of the birth of Nigerian Eagle Airlines.

Signing the codeshare and interline agreement on behalf of Nigerian Eagle Airlines, the chief executive officer, Captain Dapo Olumide at the airline's headquarters in Lagos said that the partnership with Kenya Airways is a significant landmark in the history of the young airline which is now better positioned to further re-establish its culture of excellence in customer service delivery.

"Our codeshare with Kenya Airways will pave the way for the future of aviation in Africa as passengers will have direct access to the benefits of the wide route network which will ultimately benefit the travelling public," Olumide said.

Speaking in the same vein, the chief executive officer of Kenya Airways, Titus Naikuni noted that African carriers are now cooperating more than ever before to develop aviation transport.

Naikuni said that "both airlines with proven track records will feed traffic both ways to further harness the opportunities of the codeshare and interline agreement" while also adding that the choice of Nigerian Eagle Airlines is premised on its reliability and established domestic and regional route network.

By the codeshare agreement, both airlines according to the chief executive officers plan a virtual entry into various destinations outside their original destinations, using the services of each other.
