China Eastern plans to cooperate with Sinotrans in air cargo service
SNOTF | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Chinese airline giant China
Eastern Airlines (CEA.NYSE; 00670.HK; 600115.SH) plans to cooperate
with Sinotrans Ltd. in air cargo services, according to a source
quoted by China Business News.
The source noted that although no substantive cooperation has
been carried out between the two firms thus far, both hope to do so
in the air cargo businesses.
At present, both China Eastern and Sinotrans Ltd. run an air
cargo company. China Eastern is the controlling shareholder of China
Cargo Airlines Limited, and Sinotrans has the joint venture Grandstar
Cargo International Airlines Co., Ltd co-founded by its listed
subsidiary Sinotrans Air Transportation Development Co. Ltd
(600270.SH) and Korean Air.
Sinotrans seeks to develop its air cargo businesses by making
use of the air transportation capacity of China Eastern through the
cooperation. It aims to put more capital and resource in building its
ground transportation network in the future.
Sinotrans signed a strategic cooperation frame agreement this
August with another Chinese airlines giant Air China (00753.HK:
601111.SH).
