eBay sells Skype communications unit for USD2.75bn
EBAY | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Online marketplace eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY) revealed on Thursday that
Skype communications unit's sale was completed in a deal that valued
the business at USD2.75bn.
An investor group led by Silver Lake together with Joltid Limited and
certain affiliated parties, the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board
and Andreessen Horowitz bought Skype and will control about 70% percent
stake, while the company retained the balance 30% equity stake.
eBay received about USD1.9bn in cash and a note in the principal amount
of USD125m from the buyer. The company additionally bought senior debt
securities with a face value of USD50m as part of a Skype debt
financing.
