Baidu to Issue Cellphone Clients Next Week
BIDU | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Chinese online search giant Baidu Inc. (NASDAQ: BIDU | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) is to launch two types of clients for cellphone users on November 25, 2009, representing its enhanced efforts in the mobile Internet sector, citing a report.
One type of the clients are named Palm Baidu (transliterated), containing most of Baidu's services, including wireless search, social networking, and news. The products are predicted to facilitate users to visit the website at a high speed, depending on their direct data transfer.
Meanwhile, Baidu will put up the client of its cellphone-worthy Chinese character input method based on pinyin, strokes, and the pinyin-stroke hybrid. The products were transformed from the company's newly acquired DayHand Input, an input method having been popular on the Windows Mobile and Plam platforms.
Cellphone users are able to visit Baidu's WAP website now, but many of them are not satisfied with the search results. On the other hand, Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) sees its e-map products welcomed by Chinese mobile netizens.
