BRIEF: EPA fines South Side plan over hazardous wastes
MT | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- A South Side plant that makes metal parts for cars has paid a $17,280 fine for improperly storing hazardous wastes.
ArcelorMittal Columbus, located at 1800 Watkins Road, paid the fine after an Ohio Environmental Protection Agency inspection in March found nine drums of hazardous wastes had been stored at the business in the same spot for more than 90 days.
EPA inspectors found no sign that the wastes had leaked and the company properly disposed of the drums, according to a statement the agency released yesterday. Calls to ArcelorMittal officials in Chicago were not returned.
