ChemoCentryx Inc reports positive results from PROTECT-1 study for Traficet-EN for Crohn's disease
CCXI | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Biopharmaceutical company ChemoCentryx Inc reported on Wednesday
positive PROTECT-1 study results for Traficet-EN in Crohn's Disease.
Phase II/III clinical data fromAPROTECT-1 (the Prospective Randomised
Oral Therapy Evaluation in Crohn's disease Trial) of Traficet-EN
(CCX282-B) in patients with moderate-to-severe Crohn's disease
demonstrated clinical efficacy with a favourable safety and
tolerability profile, the company said.
Traficet-EN is an orally-active inhibitor of the chemokine receptor
known as CCR9, which is selectively expressed by inflammatory T cells
to migrate to the digestive tract in a process that ultimately results
in the persistent inflammation underlying the disease.
According to ChemoCentryx, Traficet-EN is the first oral CCR9
antagonist to demonstrate clinical efficacy in Crohn's disease.
Traficet-EN is being developed under a strategic alliance with
GlaxoSmithKline's (NYSE:GSK) Center of Excellence for External Drug
Discovery (CEEDD).
