official on Saturday said China's decision to dramatically cut its
carbon emissions would inject a momentum in leading up to the
upcoming Copenhagen climate summit.

BEIJING, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao has
urged unswerving efforts to improve the building of the Communist
Party of China (CPC) to secure the Party's role as the steel core
of the country's leadership.

* Taiwan plays highlight biennial China Theater Festival

XIAMEN, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) - The staging of "The Golden Cangue,"
a Taiwan Peking Opera adapted from Eileen Chang's novel, has
complemented the 11th China Theater Festival which opened in the
costal city of Xiamen Saturday.

* 2nd Ld: Coal mine flood traps 16 miners in northeast China

CHANGCHUN, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Sixteen miners were trapped in a
flooded coal mine in Meihekou city of northeast China's Jilin
Province, said the provincial government Saturday.

*5th Ld: Three dead, four injured in Cargo plane crash in
Shanghai Pudong Airport

SHANGHAI, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Three staff have died and four
others were injured after a cargo plane caught fire at the
Shanghai Pudong airport Saturday, local officials said.

*China urges intensified supervision on A/H1N1 flu in animals

BEIJING, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Agriculture
has called for intensified monitoring and investigation of A/H1N1
flu in animals after two samples from sick dogs were tested
positive for the virus.

*China State Construction says not exposed to Dubai debt crisis

BEIJING, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- China State Construction
Engineering Corp. (CSCEC), the largest contractor in China, said
Saturday that it had "no business relations" with the troubled
Dubai World and its business in the Emirate would not be affected.

*Commentary: With courage, China ready to prove development not
threat

BEIJING, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- A lingering doubt on whether
China, a country of 1.3 billion people, would march into
industrialization without posing threats to the world, seemed to
ease as the Chinese government promises substantial CO2 emissions
cuts.
