DayHand Denies Being Acquired by Baidu
NWTYF | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Shanghai DayHand Network Technology Co., Ltd. only licensed Baidu Inc. (NASDAQ: BIDU | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) to utilize its DayHand Input technology, instead of selling itself to the Internet search giant, according to Tu Yixin, CEO of the mobile application provider.
Quoting a Baidu executive, an earlier report said that Baidu had become the sole shareholder of DayHand Network Tech. However, Mr. Tu announced that both his company's DayHand Input Chinese character input method and 3Gtan SNS software would continue existing independently.
As for himself, the CEO affirmed that he had not joined Baidu and did not plan to do that. But another report said that some employees of DayHand Network Tech had job-hopped.
On November 25, 2009, Baidu put up the clients of its cellphone-worthy Chinese character input method based on pinyin, strokes, and the pinyin-stroke hybrid, after transforming DayHand Input, which have been popular on the Windows Mobile and Plam platforms.
