USAPA requests investigation into US Airways and Delta Air Lines transaction by US Department of Justice
LCC | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- The US Airline Pilots Association (USAPA) said on Monday that it is now
seeking full investigation into the impact of a proposed slot, gate and
facility transaction between US Airways (NYSE:LCC) and Delta Air Lines
(NYSE: DAL | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) at New York's LaGuardia and Washington's Reagan National
airports.
The union wrote a letter to Christine Varney, assistant attorney
general of the US Department of Justice's Antitrust Division, stating
that it believes that the agreement between US Airways and Delta Air
Lines could have serious antitrust concerns.
The proposed agreement would see the transfer of 125 pairs of New
York's LaGuardia Airport slots from US Airways to Delta and 42 pairs of
Washington's Reagan National Airport slots from Delta to US Airways. US
Airways also plans to transfer real estate and gates to Delta,
according to USAPA.
