Power supply from the Unit-1 Korangi Thermal Power Plant could not be restored and which was providing 150MW to the city while sources disclosed that unit has been closed because KESC was facing huge loses for maintenance and KESC technical partners Siemens finally decided to shut down the unit while Unit-3 and 6 have already been closed for maintenance.
Due to the disconnection of the power supply from KANNUP and Korangi Thermal Power Plant unit-1, KESC has announced 1 to 2 hours long loadshedding in different patches in day and night. The midnight load shedding continues in various parts of the city and shortage of 300 MW increased the troubles of the city. Many areas have been depriving of electricity since last night. The total demand of the city has been increased due to the increasing temperature of the city which raised upto 39C.
It may be noticed here that KESC had announced not to commit loadshedding during the Sehri and Iftar timing but could not fulfil its promise and people were suffering with power outage in these timings.
While resident of Gulshan-e-Iqbal violently appeared on the road at Mashriq Centre and started protest against the prolong electricity outage in the area.
Angry mob blocked the National stadium road for hours and chanted slogans against KESC management. They also burnt the tires and old furniture and pelted stones on the vehicles. The residents of Gulshan-e- Iqbal are suffering with the cables faults since many days and suffering with day to night power outage.
The residents of various localities have complaint about power outage of 5 to 7 hours long and also complaint sleepless night. The power breakdowns captured various areas including Gulshan-e- Iqbal, Landhi, Korangi, Azam Basti, Mehmoodabad, Defence, Baldia, Shah Faisal Colony, FC Area, FB Area, Water Pump, Jamshed Road, Alexander Road, North Nazimabad, North Karachi, Malir, Malir Cantt. and Model Colony.
