Maureen Brown, the spokeswoman, said the joint venture, UniStar Nuclear Energy LLC, was finalized last week and that its business plan envisions building four new reactors at Constellation's existing nuclear plant sites. She noted no final decision has been made to build any new reactor.
The joint venture was announced July 20 and gives EDF the option to buy a 9.9 percent stake in Baltimore-based Constellation.
The plan to build four reactors was initially reported by Bloomberg based on remarks by EDF officials Thursday to financial analysts in Paris. The EDF officials also estimated that buying a stake in Constellation would cost around $2 billion, according to Bloomberg.
