In the fourth quarter, the country's automotive market will see no big change, said Xu Changming, a director of the State Information Center. The three automakers will definitely become the Top Three for the full year, he predicted.
Each of the Top Three will have a sales volume between 400,000 and 500,000 units. Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., one of the country's successful independent-branded automakesr, will be in the fourth position on the full-year sales list.
The automakers following the first four will include Guangzhou Honda Automobile Co., Ltd., Tianjin FAW Toyota Automobile Co., Ltd., and Beijing Hyundai Co., Ltd. with sales of 300,000 units at least each.
In August, Shanghai Volkswagen under the wing of Germany- based Volkswagen AG ranked first with 42,518 units, according to the National Passenger Cars Association.
The second title went to FAW-Volkswagen, another China venture of the German auto giant with 42,460 units. Shanghai General Motors under the aegis of US General Motors ranked third with 39,662 units.
FAW Toyota, a joint venture established by China FAW Group Corp. and Japan's Toyota Motor Corp., and Chery Automobile, respectively sold 27,500 and 26,446 units and stood in the fourth and fifth positions.
The sixth biggest seller was Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Co., jointly established by Japan's Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and China's DongFeng Motor Corp.
In July, China's top ten carmakers sold 239,300 cars, making up 64 percent of the country's total. They were FAW- Volkswagen, Shanghai Volkeswagen, Shanghai General Motors, FAW Toyota, Chery Automobile, Dongfeng Nissan, Guangzhou Honda, Chang'an Ford Mazda, Geely Group, and Guangzhou Toyota Motor Co., Ltd.
This year, the car and heavy-duty truck sectors will be fairly eye-catching in the whole industry, said Zhang Xin, an auto analyst with the broker Guotai Junan Securities Co., Ltd.
Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. (Group) has remained the leading car manufacturer. Under its aegis, Shanghai Volkswagen and Shanghai General Motors are among the top three car sellers.
ChangAn Group, partner of Ford Motor Co. and Mazda Motor Corp., is expected to have stronger profitability in the future due to its enriching product portfolio.
The country's heavy-duty truck sales reached 334,500 units from January to August, marking a jump of 75.34 percent. China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Co., Ltd. outsold FAW and became the No. 1 in the sector with a year-on-year growth of 78.25 percent.
