The Los Angeles County board of supervisors recognized the need to protect information residing on county departments' laptops, other portable computing devices and removable media. Through The Vantage Group, Los Angeles County purchased in excess of 12,500 seats of Pointsec PC, received over 100 hours of Quick-Start consulting and options on Pointsec Protector.
Al Brusewitz, chief information security officer of Los Angeles County, said: "We take securing our networks and PCs very seriously. As a result, we really put the Check Point products through the 'ringer' in our testing to ensure they could deliver as promised and we were impressed.
The Pointsec products were quick to configure and deploy and required very little administration bandwidth from our IT team. Strong encryption is good, but executing it at the lowest operational cost and minimal impact to county employees was a key attribute. With these solutions in place, I'm comfortable that should a laptop fall into the wrong hands, all data on the device will remain protected."
