The Company's return to the trade show in Paris, France follows its successful debut last year with the unveiling of the e-Port Generation 6, the world's first contactless card payment technology designed for vending machines.
USA Technologies' digital, wireless technology will be on display in four booths this week operated by global leaders in smart card solutions, Near Field Communications (NFC), semiconductors, and digital security.
"After making our first appearance at CARTES with the e-Port displayed in two booths, we are back this year in four booths operated by key players in the credit card industry," said Wendy Jenkins, Vice President Marketing, USA Technologies. "CARTES marks a major onslaught of our cashless, contactless payment technology on European markets for vending machines, kiosks and point of sale terminals."
The e-Port is on exhibition in booths operated by On Track Innovations Ltd (OTI), ViVotech, Inside Contactless, and Gemalto. The e-Port is also on display in cold drink vending machines that accept MasterCard's PayPass contactless credit and debit cards. OTI is prominent in contactless microprocessor-based smart card solutions. ViVotech specializes in contactless payments for NFC enabled mobile phones and PDAs for point of sale terminals. Inside Contactless is a leading semiconductor provider dedicated exclusively to contactless technology including smart cards, key fobs, mobile phones, handheld devices, POS and PC peripherals. Gemalto provides end-to-end digital security solutions designed to make personal digital interactions more convenient and secure and estimates more than one billion people use its products and services.
The e-Port G6 was designed by USA Technologies to accept all forms of cashless payment devices, from traditional magnetic swipe credit and debit cards, to radio frequency (RF) cards and devices. USA Technologies, MasterCard and Coca-Cola Enterprises recently completed installation of 7,000 e-Ports nationwide. In October 2007, USA Technologies installed a record 5,000 e-Ports, and now has a total of 24,000 cashless terminals on its USALive(R) Network.
There are more than 30 million vending machines worldwide with 3.5 million in Europe, representing a $100 billion business.
CARTES 2007 will feature more than 500 global exhibitors from 130 countries, with an expected 20,000 visitors, including government and industry leaders and decision makers. The trade show runs November 13-15, 2007.
