The facility will accommodate the 500 employees who work for the coal-bed methane production company and will replace the old offices on Burro Canyon Road.
Kimberly Mazza, spokeswoman for Pioneer, said the new complex would house a medical facility, giving workers quick access to medical help for on-the-job injuries.
"We just felt like it was safer to have that on site," she said.
The $20 million structure has 20,000 square feet of office space and conference rooms and a 50,000-square-foot mechanics shop that can service 12 diesel trucks at one time. Heated driveways and sidewalks will keep the area free of ice. All outdoor lighting on the 50-acre property is designed to point downward, eliminating light pollution.
Jay Stills, executive vice president for Pioneer's western division, said the structure exhibits the company's investment in its employees and the community.
"One of our top priorities is to provide the safest working conditions for our employees and the best technology, equipment and science for our operations," he said. "This building was necessary to provide that."
The new office is located on Colorado 12, approximately 5 miles from town.
