ST. LOUIS, Dec 28, 2007 (ASCRIBE NEWS via COMTEX) -- BIRF | charts | news | PowerRating -- MobiMate, a provider of mobile travel services for the road warrior and frequent flier, earlier this month announced its newest mobile travel tool, WorldMate Live, has been awarded with a grant from the Israel-U.S. Binational Industrial Research and Development (BIRD) Foundation, due to its progressive technology and commercial success.

MobiMate's partnership with Conducive Technology marries MobiMate's expertise in building mobile applications and services for smartphones with Conducive's grasp of the airline industry and flight status service.

"Our organization focuses on companies that innovate and provide breakthrough capabilities," said Dr. Eitan Yudilevich, BIRD's executive director. "Such is the partnership between MobiMate from Israel and Conducive from the US, to support travelers with a sophisticated mobile travel tool."

From flight details, airlines and departure / arrival times, to rental car details, hotel and meeting information, local time and weather, WorldMate Live serves as the premier resource for travelers, providing information enabling them to easily manage their hectic schedules. The application is provided to the public as an open service with all components and offers a choice in membership tiers. An Open Membership is completely free of charge(a) and includes access to all the system's components and basic services, including itinerary management and synchronization, travel content and basic push services.

Gold Membership provides access to premium services, which include a flight alert service that gives real-time notifications of delayed or cancelled flights on over 200 airlines, comprehensive flight schedules and a mobile travel directory. Gold Membership costs $99.95 a year or $9.95 a month.

"WorldMate Live is being implemented by frequent travelers at an impressive clip, specifically because the underlying technology addresses real problems in an easy-to-use fashion," said Jeff Kennedy, chief executive officer for Conducive. "As a result of our sophisticated technology and MobiMate's expertise in mobile travel solutions, WorldMate Live is enjoying massive consumer adoption and global commercial success."

The Israel-U.S. Binational Industrial Research and Development (BIRD) Foundation promotes strategic partnerships between Israeli and American companies in various technological fields. BIRD assists, free of charge, in the identification of strategic partners for development of joint products.

The BIRD Foundation funds are repaid only as royalties on actual sales. The Foundation provides funding of up to 50 percent of project expenses, from R&D to the initial stages of sales and marketing. In projects that do not reach actual sales, BIRD participates in the risk without demanding repayment of its investment.
