Sun Microsystems sees 2Q earnings of 28c-32c a share, revenue of $3.6 billion

BOSTON, Jan 16, 2008 (Thomson Financial via COMTEX) -- JAVAD | news | PowerRating | PR Charts -- Sun Microsystems Inc. Wednesday said it expects second-quarter net income of 28 cents to 32 cents a share on revenue of about $3.6 billion.

The mean estimate of analysts polled by Thomson Financial is for second-quarter earnings of 29 cents a share on revenue of $3.58 billion.

The Santa Clara, Calf.-based provider of network computing infrastructure product and services said net bookings for the second quarter rose about 7% from year-earlier levels to about $3.85 billion.

Total gross margin as a percent of revenue is expected to be about 48% for the second quarter, an increase of about 3 percentage points, the company said.
