Jan 17, 2008 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) -- IBM | news | PowerRating | PR Charts -- Plans to deliver Informix Dynamic Server (IDS) support for the Mac OS X Leopard operating system from computer company Apple, have been unveiled by computer company IBM (NYSE:IBM).

IBM said the planned IDS 11 Cheetah 2 release will, through this collaboration, be available for Mac OS X version 10.5 Leopard.

According to IBM, IDS 11 will provide online transaction processing (OLTP) data serving capabilities for the Mac platform, along with existing support of Linux, Unix and Windows. It claimed IDS 11 will provide high performance, low operating cost, scalability and data ability, continuous availability and disaster recovery, including support for multiple secondary servers.

IBM confirmed that developers can download the open beta version of IBM IDS Developer Edition from http://www.ibm.com/informix/new.
