This week, most of the bank's 260 branches around the state will begin sporting new red-and-blue Bank of America signs. From now on, LaSalle customers who reorder checks will receive Bank of America-branded instruments. Early this summer, LaSalle customers will receive new ATM/debit cards with the Bank of America logo.
On Monday, a few top executives of the bank, based in Charlotte, N.C., celebrated the company's entry into Michigan with ribbon-cutting ceremonies at three Detroit branches. Bank of America also announced a $50,000 donation to the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History during a lunch it held there for some of its top customers. In addition, it will sponsor a special exhibit at the museum later this year.
"You'll see us active in the community," said Kieth Cockrell, the bank's Michigan president, citing upcoming efforts to educate homeowners on how to prevent foreclosures.
With the acquisition of LaSalle, Bank of America instantly became Michigan's largest bank in terms of deposits. "We see tons of possibilities here," said Walter Elcock, the bank's market president executive.
