About 700 graduates were recognized Saturday during commencement exercises at Columbus State University.
The college held two ceremonies, one at 10 a.m. and another at 3 p.m.; retiring president Frank Brown gave the commencement speech at both exercises.
Several graduates said they were relieved and excited to receive their degrees.
"I'm glad it's finally over," said Laura Buehrle who graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration and marketing. She said she and her husband are planning on starting their own company; he'll handle loans and I'll handle real estate, she said.
Christina Bell, who graduated with a bachelor's degree in chemistry, said she would be "looking for a job." She said she wasn't worried about the search.
Graduate school is the option that Jameca Razor is considering. She received a bachelor's degree in health science and said she wanted to be a public health administrator. She was glad to have her degree.
"It's great and exciting," she said.
