The companies said a Carphone Warehouse prepay card will be introduced, managed directly from the mobile phone, for use in millions of retail outlets around the world.
The new service will incorporate full mobile management, similar to that used by many UK bank customers to manage their money while on the go.
Customers will use a secure application stored on their mobile device, enabling them to top-up their card from their bank account and monitor recent transactions. They will only be able to spend to the value of their current credit level, allowing consumers to shop online or by phone without overspending.
The funds are held securely and can be topped up as required, enabling the cards to be given as gifts, according to Unstrung.
