Watson Pharma Chairman Allen Chao to resign

NEW YORK, May 12, 2008 (Thomson Financial via COMTEX) -- WPI | news | PowerRating | PR Charts -- Watson Pharmaceuticals Inc. Monday named independent director Andrew Turner non-executive chairman of the board, succeeding current chairman Dr. Allen Chao, who is resigning to pursue other business activities.

Chao was a co-founder of Watson in 1983 and served as chief executive officer from 1985 until Sept. 2007.

Turner has been on Watson's board since 1997. He has served as chairman of the company's nominating and corporate governance committee since 2003.
