"By design, Durabook mobile PCs are built to spend their working lives out of the office, in the field with military personnel, federal and state employees - and corporate road warriors," said Steven Gau, President of GammaTech. "Our two-year service and support guarantee reflects our confidence that these notebooks can stand up to the spills, drops and other risks outside the office. Absolute's Computrace management and security services are an ideal complement to the Durabook's performance and durability."
GammaTech has begun embedding support for Absolute's patented Computrace technology in the firmware of Durabook models. Computrace-enabled models include the D14RY, D15RP and D15TS which allow for optional encrypted hard drives for an additional layer of data security.
"Mobile employees, particular those in federal and state government roles, travel - in automobiles and frequently in high theft areas like airports," said John Livingston, Chairman and CEO of Absolute. "More than 50 percent of mobile professionals carry confidential company information on their notebook and 12,000 notebooks are lost weekly in U.S. airports alone(1). Absolute provides the industry's standard solution for protecting mobile computer users from this threat. We offer computer users like GammaTech's customers the ability to recover those computers that go missing and remotely delete sensitive information to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands."
