Verizon activates new cell site in Michigan

Oct 10, 2008 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) -- VZ | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Verizon Wireless, a US mobile operator, announced on 10 October that it has activated a new cell site in Livonia, Michigan that will improve the company's voice and data network coverage in the area.

The company said that the new cell site is part of the its efforts to expand and improve coverage in the state and across the entire network, with more than USD1.7bn invested network improvements in Michigan since 2000 and USD145m since 2007.

Verizon Wireless is a joint venture between Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ) and Vodafone (NYSE:VOD) (LSE:VOD).
