Both personnel decisions were announced by Brian Bethers, president of 1-800 CONTACTS.
Hwang, who has been at 1-800 CONTACTS since 2005, most recently as the company's Vice President of Marketing, assumes greater marketing responsibilities including new initiatives associated with one of the country's largest retailers. In that capacity, Hwang will lead a major integration effort involving the company's phone and web services.
Hwang received a Bachelor's degree from The Georgia Institute of Technology and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. He held brand management positions at The Gambrinus Company and Procter & Gamble, and was Director of Marketing at Pabst Brewing Company prior to joining 1-800 CONTACTS.
Walker was given additional executive responsibilities associated with one of 1-800 CONTACTS major retail partners that involves personnel training. This new assignment is in addition to Walker's ongoing responsibilities managing the company's call center, distribution center and verification department.
Walker has been at 1-800 CONTACTS since 2001, where he was hired as the company's Call Center Director. In 2006, he was promoted to Vice President. Prior to joining 1-800 CONTACTS, Walker was Director of Owner Services for the Marriott Vacation Club International and also worked for Covey Leadership Center. He attended Boise State University and Brigham Young University.
