Chi Mei Optoelectronics was up nearly 3.5 pct following a report that the maker of liquid-crystal display panels has secured contracts for about 10 mln panels from Chinese firms.
Powerchip surged more than 5 pct on news that the chipmaker is preparing to cut costs further.
At 9.04 am, the weighted index was up 7.75 points or 0.16 pct at 4,706.06, after opening up 21.23 points at 4,719.54.
Turnover was 4.78 bln twd.
Chi Mei Optoelectronics rose 0.40 twd or 3.48 pct to 11.90 and Powerchip rallied 0.20 twd or 5.25 pct to 4.01.
