Oct 10, 2008 (The Wisconsin State Journal - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- GMTN | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- The following is a calendar for outdoors recreational events in and around southern Wisconsin as of Aug. Oct. 10, 2008. Please note that readers are advised to contact clubs and organizations, especially in the event of inclement weather, to check the status of each listing.

Oct. 11: Sugar River Valley Pheasants Forever Prairie Fire Flurry shoot and chapter banquet. Argyle Rod & Gun Club. Shoot at 9 a.m. Chapter representatives will discuss our burn team and habitat programs. Banquet at 6 p.m. Tickets at door. Club located 3 miles east of Argyle at W9408 State Highway 81. Oct. 11 and 12: Learn to Waterfowl Hunt Weekend in conjunction with the Department of Natural Resources, the Wisconsin Waterfowl Association, the Beaver Dam Conservation Club, Final Approach, and Ducks Unlimited. Beaver Dam Conservation Club. $10. Call Mark Kakatsch at 262-567-1300. Completion of a hunter safety course is not required.

Oct. 13: Capital City Chapter of Muskies Inc. monthly meeting. 7 p.m. Jingles Coliseum Bar, 232 E. Olin Ave. in Madison. Featured speaker will be Steve Miljat, a southern Wisconsin muskie guide and wildlife artist.

Oct. 14: Yahara Fishing Club monthly meeting. 7:30 p.m. V.F.W. at 133 E. Lakeside St. off John Nolen Drive in Madison. Speakers will be Geoff Crandall and Steve Reinstra. They will offer presentations for live bait, casting, and trolling on the Yahara Chain.

Oct. 19: Columbia County Sportsman's League clays shoot. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Northeast of Wisconsin Dells on Gale Drive off Highway G from Highway 23.

Oct. 21: Wisconsin Smallmouth Alliance, LTD monthly meeting. 7 p.m. Maple Tree Restaurant in McFarland. Speaker will be Tim Larson, Department of Natural Resources biologist focusing on the Wisconsin River smallmouth populations between the dams in Wisconsin Dells and Sauk City. Nov. 7: Whitetails Unlimited's South Central Wisconsin banquet. Peppercorn Banquets, 1417 Mansion Drive in Monroe. Social hour at 5:30 p.m., buffet dinner at 7 p.m. Auction.
