Energy and materials stocks were among the markets' biggest midday movers on Tuesday as stocks providing exposure to both oil and gold were higher on the day. This included many of yesterday's midday winners as well as stocks like The Williams Companies (WMB | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating), Potash Corporation (POT | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) and Petroleo Brasilero (PBR | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating).

The day's biggest midday movers included First Marblehead (FMD | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating), which pulled back today after Monday's strong gains and, to the upside, Hydrogenics Corporation (HYGS | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) which is rallying after last Monday's disappointing earnings announcement.
