Stocks finished the day broadly higher. The Nasdaq Composite was the biggest percentage gainer, ending the session up 37.03. The S&P 500 was ahead by 14.91. The Dow industrials closed the day with a 94.28 gain.

Citigroup raised shares of the Chinese web portal Sina Corporation (SINA | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) from "hold" to "buy." Sina reported an 87% gain in profits for the quarter..
