Earnings Continue To Flow As Futures Still Slightly Higher - U.S. Commentary ($COMPX | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating)

(RealTimeTraders.com) 7/26/2005 7:56:39 AM The futures are showing a slight upward bias at this point, as earnings news continues to flow.

Verizon (VZ) reported earnings for the second quarter of $0.63 per share, excluding one-time items. This was down from last year's mark of $0.64 per share, disappointing analysts, who had, on average, expected the company to match its year-ago result. The company said revenue for the period grew 4.6% to $18.6 billion.

DuPont (DD) reported earnings for the second quarter of $1.01 per share, including a net benefit of $0.11 per share from one-time items. In the same period last year, the company earned $0.50 per share. The company said its net sales for the period were $7.5 billion, essentially flat with last year.

Lockheed Martin (LMT) reported a second-quarter profit of $1.02 per share, including a gain of $0.06 per share from its investment in Inmarsat. The company earned $0.66 per share in the same period last year. Wall Street analysts had expected the company to make $0.83 per share. Lockheed Martin also raised its earnings guidance for the full year to $3.60-$3.75 per share. Previously, the company had predicted a profit for the year of $3.35-$3.55 per share.


Verizon Communications Fell Short Of The Q2 Consensus - Stock To Watch (VZ | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating)

Verizon Communications fell to the downside in the late afternoon on Monday and closed lower by 0.15 at $34.02. The stock slipped below support to close at a 3-month low.

Netflix Inc. Is Rising Higher On Q2 Results (NFLX | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating)

(RealTimeTraders.com) 7/26/2005 7:27:41 AM Netflix Inc. (NFLX) reported second quarter EPS of $0.14 after the bell on Monday, which topped the consensus estimate of $0.01. Revenues increased to $164.5 million from the $120.3 million reported last year. The company increased its full year 2005 GAAP net income guidance to between $2.4 million and $11.9 million, from previous guidance of a loss of $5 million to $15 million. The stock is now up 2.69 on 30K shares Tuesday morning on Instinet.

Netflix Inc. moved to the upside in the first 90 minutes of Monday's session and closed higher by 0.56 at $16.96. The stock finished near the upper end of a 6-week range.


Texas Instruments Inc. Is Moving Higher On Q2 Earnings (TXN | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating)

(RealTimeTraders.com) 7/26/2005 7:34:17 AM Texas Instruments Inc. (TXN) reported second quarter EPS of $0.38 after the close on Monday, which included $0.06 per share in tax gains. Excluding the gain, EPS came in at $0.32, which beat the consensus estimate of $0.29. Third quarter EPS is expected to come in between $0.31 and $0.35, compared to the consensus estimate of $0.32. The stock is now up 1.61 on 3K shares Tuesday morning on Instinet.

Texas Instruments Inc. moved slightly to the downside just before noon on Monday and closed lower by 0.16 at $30.60. The stock has been pulling back from the highs of the year for the last 3 sessions.

J2 Global Communications Is Heading Higher On Q2 News (JCOM | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating)

(RealTimeTraders.com) 7/26/2005 7:46:13 AM j2 Global Communications (JCOM) reported second quarter EPS of $0.46 after the bell on Monday, which topped the consensus estimate of $0.42. Revenues increased to $34.9 million, from the $25.8 million reported last year. The company expects to report third quarter EPS of $0.48 to $0.49 and full year 2005 EPS of $1.82 to $1.87. The consensus estimates are for EPS of $0.45 and $1.75 respectively. The stock is now up 2.53 on 8K shares Tuesday morning on Instinet.

j2 Global Communications moved to the downside at the open of Monday's session, before settling into a range, to close down by 0.28 at $36.47. The stock pulled back slightly from some resistance.

 

Lockheed Martin Corp. Topped The Q2 Consensus - Stock To Watch (LMT | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating)

Revenues increased to $9.3 billion, from the $8.8 billion reported last year. The company increased its full year 2005 EPS guidance to between $3.60 and $3.75, compared to the consensus estimate of $3.54. The stock is now up 1.49 on light volume Tuesday morning on Instinet.

Lockheed Martin Corp. moved to the upside in the first 45 minutes of Monday's session and closed higher by 0.51 at $62.51. The stock rose above a narrow range to finish at a 2 1/2 week high.
