Here are 7 stocks for traders for today from TradingMarkets.com:

  • Home improvement retailers were among the stocks recording gains on Tuesday, with Home Depot (HD | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) gaining more than 4% intraday. Lowe's (LOW | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating), which earned an upgrade from "neutral" to "buy" from a Goldman Sachs analyst, was up more than 6%.

  • The sell-off in gold stocks continues, with shares of Freeport McMoran Copper & Gold (FCX | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) down more than 6% on Tuesday.

  • Also lower by large margins were energy stocks such as U.S. coal king, Massey Energy (MEE | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating), which lost more than 9% in a deep pullback that brings the stock to within 10 points of its 200-day moving average.

  • The biggest gainer in the Dow industrials was General Motors (GM | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) which was up more than 6% late in trading on Tuesday.

  • Staples (SPLS | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) reports quarterly earnings Wednesday before the market opens. Analysts are expecting EPS of $0.21.

  • Google (GOOG | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) unveiled its new Internet browser, Chrome, on Tuesday. The browser is available as a free download from the Google homepage.
