The major indices exploded upward today, led by technology and bank shares.

The Dow finished up +189.87 points, the S&P 500 climbed +23.75 points and the NASDAQ soared +67.91 points.

Here are 7 Stocks You Need to Know for Friday:

Exxon Mobil (XOM | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) announced first quarter profits of $10.9 billion but still fell short of analyst expectations causing a pull back in the stock.

General Motors (GM | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) reported U.S. auto sales of -16.3% and truck sales of -26.5%.

Shares of Las Vegas Sands (LVS | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) fell nearly 6% after the casino operator reproted disappointing earnings results.

After the close, competitor Wynn Resorts (WYNN | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) missed estimates by $0.01.

Sun Microsystems (JAVA | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) reported revenue of $3.27 billion, a 0.5% decline from the year ago quarter.
