Stocks finished up but off their highs on Wednesday. The Dow was the biggest percentage gainer, ending the day up 66.20. The S&P 500 was higher by 5.62. And the Nasdaq Composite finished ahead by 1.58.

Blockbuster (BBI | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) is scheduled to report earnings tomorrow before the bell. Analysts expect EPS of $0.15.

Losses that were not as bad as expected helped life shares of Freddie Mac (FRE | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) more than 9% today.

Disappointing second quarter profits and the continued slowdown in the construction business lead sellers to send Deere (DE | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) lower by nearly 10% on Wednesday.
