Stocks were routed again on Thursday, providing another day of higher highs for many short and leveraged short funds based on market indexes. Emerging markets ETFs were also dramatically lower, as were most sector ETFs - though the selling was markedly less aggressive in technology-indexed funds.

Here are 7 ETFs You Need to Know for Friday.

The S&P 500 SPDRS, SPY (SPY | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating), lost more than 3% on Thursday. The ETF has closed lower for the past six consecutive sessions.

Trading below its 200-day moving average and extremely oversold, the iShares Russell 2000 Trust, IWM (IWM | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating), has closed below its 5-day moving average for the past nine days in a row. Conversely, the ProShares UltraShort Russell 2000 exchange-traded fund, TWM (TWM | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating), was up more than 10% on the day.

The PowerShares DB US Dollar Bullish ETF, UUP (UUP | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating), continued to move sideways after pulling back from overbought extremes late last week.

Nearing its September highs, the ProShares UltraShort FTSE/Xinhua exchange-traded fund, FXP (FXP | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating), added 8% on Thursday.

Wednesday's intraday reversal to the downside in the Select Industrial Sector SPDRS, XLI (XLI | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) was the prelude to Thursday's decline of more than 4%.

Exchange-traded funds like the ProShares UltraShort Financials ETF, SKF (SKF | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating), have been a popular option before, during and after the short sell ban on many financial stocks. SKF was ahead by more than 16% on Thursday.
