GE's wind turbines selected by DESA and Renova for Brazilian wind farm projects

Diversified global infrastructure, finance and media company GE (NYSE: GE | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) has received commitments to supply wind turbines for wind farms to be developed in Brazil, the company announced on Wednesday. Financial terms were not disclosed.
These wind farms, which are expect to add over 400 megawatts of power to Brazil's clean energy capacity, reportedly mark the debut of GE's wind turbine technology in Brazil.
A total of just over 1.8 gigawatts of wind generation is planned for award to various developers and utilities in Brazil. DESAaEUR"Dobreve Energia S.A was awarded with 144 megawatts to be built in the state of Rio Grande do Norte and RenovaaEUR"Renova Energia S.A. was awarded with 270 megawatts to be built in the state of Bahia.
Both DESA and Renova have selected GE's 1.5 megawatt class wind turbines for use at the projects, of which are all expected to be in commercial operation by July of 2012.
