The real-name registration system implemented in the sales of railway tickets have brought orders reaching hundreds of millions Chinese yuan to ticket checker and ID identifier manufacturers.
Honeywell International Inc. (NYSE: HON | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating), the world's automation technology giant, has won an order from the Ministry of Railways (MOR) to supply the latter with thousands of 2D barcode image scanning equipment.
The real-name registration system needs hardware including ID identifiers, handheld ticket checkers, 2D barcode scanners, and receipt printers. Honeywell has already delivered more than 4,000 2D barcode scanners to the MOR.
The division of Honeywell taking on the supply tasks is Honeywell Automation and Control Solutions (ACS), which was established after acquiring Hand Held Products and Metrologic.
On November 18, 2009, the China Academy of Railway Sciences launched a bidding invitation for the procurement of 3,623 ID identifiers, 600 handheld ticket checkers, 182 cameras, and 1,693 2D barcode readers.
The MOR is expected to spend more than CNY 100 million for the implementation of the real-name registration system, revealed Wang Yongping, spokesperson of the government regulator.
